Patient and caregiver medical marijuana cards in Arkansas will not expire during the COVID-19 emergency, according to the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH).

Registry identification cards from the ADH are valid for one year from the date they are issued or the amount of time designated by physicians.

The ADH says expiration dates for medical marijuana cards have been suspended until further notice.

For those whose cards expire during this COVID-19 emergency, they will not be issued a new one. Current cards will allow patients to purchase medical marijuana at their local dispensary regardless of the expiration date.

Renewal applications are still being processed for individuals who wish to go ahead and renew their cards. To renew, patients will need an updated physician written certification, patient application, copy of your Arkansas driver’s license or ID and $50 processing fee.

In addition, telehealth visits for physician certification are allowed during the COVID-19 emergency.

As of Friday, 47,473 medical marijuana ID cards had been issued in Arkansas.
