The driver of the truck failed to yield, striking a westbound passenger vehicle that had started to proceed through the intersection with a green traffic light.
A month after Hambelton’s death, her brother, Doug Martin pleaded with city council and the Missouri Department of Transportation for some new safety measures at the intersection.
City officials told KY3-Springfield Hambelton’s fatal crash and other reasons led to two new flashing caution lights at opposite ends of Highway 63.

Officer Murrell said in January the identifies of the drivers had not been released, pending the outcome of the investigation.
