Personnel from the Mark Twain National Forest have initiated a plan to reopen recreation sites temporarily shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic, and a local campground is part of the first phase of that initiative. The North Fork Campground is one of multiple sites in the Ava/Cassville/Willow Springs Ranger District to be opened by June 1.
Missouri Gov. Mike Parson’s “Show Me Strong Recovery” plan began last week. While stay-at-home orders are being lifted in the state, delays may remain in certain recreation areas of the forest. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Reopening will be done in phases similar to what’s planned for recreation sites managed by the state of Missouri.
Availability of restroom facilities and potable water will vary at different sites. For more information, contact the Ava/Cassville/Willow Springs Ranger District at 417-683-4428.
