
Boston Mountain Rural Health Center has been providing weekly COVID-19 screenings free of charge throughout various locations of North Central Arkansas, and the local community health center will also have a one-time event this week in Mountain Home. A community-wide COVID-19 testing event is scheduled for Tuesday from 9 to 4 on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.
The screenings are free to anyone seeking to be tested, and a free boxed lunch will be provided. For more information, contact Boston Mountain’s Yellville location at 870-449-7000.
Boston Mountain provides screenings at eight different locations each week with four in the Twin Lakes Area. Local screenings are held Tuesdays from 9 to 4 in the parking lot of the former Orscheln Farm and Home in Flippin, Wednesdays from 9 to 4 in the parking lot next to the former Fred’s Dollar Store in Marshall, Thursdays from 9 to 4 in the parking lot of JCPenney in Harrison and Fridays from 8 to noon at Spah Grill in Mountain View.
First Choice Healthcare is also providing weekly screenings at its location in Salem. Tests are being conducted Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 4.
First Choice CEO Brigitte McDonald recently told Areawide Media the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced in early May it would award grants totaling over $4.7 million to 12 Heath Resource Services Administration healthcare centers in Arkansas. The funds are being used to expand testing, purchase personal protective equipment, train staff, conduct outreach and procure and administer tests and laboratory services.
