New storm siren, NAYC grants on Cotter City Council agenda

The Cotter City Council will be asked to approve two resolutions regarding grants when it meets Thursday evening at 6.The council will be asked to amend the 2020 budget to reallocate project expenses for an early warning storm siren. Mayor McGeorge “Mac” Caradine told KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news earlier the city has received a matching grant from USDA. The grant paid for 55% of the project totaling a little over $22,000.

The council will also be asked to amend the budget to reallocate project expenses for an Arkansas Department of Tourism Fun grant for the North Arkansas Youth Center in downtown Cotter. In that same earlier interview, Mayor Caradine provided details on the youth center project.

In a related matter, it will be read into the minutes the low bid for the concrete work for the youth center grant of $44,308 from Aaron Lewis Construction was approved by the Arkansas Department of Tourism.

The council will also be asked to act on Mayor Caradine’s appointment of Ben Woodard to the Planning and Zoning Board.

The meeting will be held in the council chambers of Cotter City Hall.
