A student athlete in the Bakersfield R-IV School District has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. According to Bakersfield Superintendent Dr. Amy Britt, the athlete competed in a shootout last week at Couch.
Dr. Britt says the district is working closely with the Ozark County Health Department, who is conducting contact tracing. She says the health department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are currently not recommending quarantine.
Dr. Britt adds for any student exhibiting symptoms including a cough, fever, headache or loss of taste or smell, the CDC recommends testing. The risk to other participants and spectators at the shootout is reportedly minimal.
