Tuesday night’s Marion County Quorum Court meeting may have some fireworks as the court continues to deal with budget shortfalls forcing each department to make cuts. KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news aired a story Tuesday morning with information from Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans saying he will lose nine to 10 employees, following the court’s budget committee instructing him to cut another $158,000 from his budget, after he already cut $152,000. After hearing the story, Marion County Judge John Massey responded to the sheriff’s comments, which were made in a press release and in a Facebook post.

The judge says county officials started working on reducing costs back in the spring, after the shortfall was discovered.

The county judge is adamant the proposal of cutting personnel at the sheriff’s office is not something that has been discussed in any of their meetings and is being used as a way to make the county look bad.
