Cotter splits with Lead Hill; Flippin boys win at Green Forest

The Cotter High School basketball teams had mixed results Thursday, as they hosted Lead Hill.
The girls’ game ended with the Lady Warriors beating the Lady Tigers 62-34. Cotter was led by Kate Cheek with 21 points, Hailey Cunningham finished with 14, and Kaylee Crownover chipped in 10.
Cotter did not fare as well in the boys’ contest losing to Lead Hill 54-50. Cody Paul paced the Tigers with 15 points and 11 rebounds, and T.J. Catron ended up with 15 points.

Flippin’s boys had a good night on the road. The Bobcats dominated Green Forest by a final of 58-36.

The Gainesville boys had a rough night, as they competed in the semifinals of the Mansfield Invitational Basketball Tournament. The Bulldogs fell to Norwood 55-36. Gainesville will face Conway for third place on Saturday.

The Izard County High School teams came away with a split, as they hosted Mammoth Spring in Brockwell.
In the boys’ game, the Cougars topped the Bears 48-40. Caleb Faulkner was Izard County’s top scorer with 19 points, and Coby Everett added 12. For Mammoth Spring, Aidan Burns scored 11 points, and Cole Young provided 10. The Cougars remain unbeaten in nine games on the year.
The girls’ contest had a different result, as Izard County was edged out by Mammoth Spring 49-47. The Lady Cougars were led by Abbi Marlin with 13 points, and Alli Marlin had 12. Shelby VanGinhoven finished with 15 points for the Lady Bears, Sara Crowe ended up with 13, and Megyn Upton chipped in 12.
Mammoth Spring will host Greene County Tech on Tuesday.

Rural Special’s girls ended up with a loss on the road. The Lady Rebels fell to Valley Springs by a score of 52-38.
