Tuesday results include Norfork getting swept by Viola

The Norfork High School basketball teams had a tough night on the road Tuesday, as they were swept at Viola.
The Lady Panthers fell to the Lady Longhorns 68-41. Lindsey Browning was Viola’s top scorer with 31 points and 12 rebounds, A.J. McCandlis ended up with 16 points, and Kennedy Renfrom provided 12. The Lady Longhorns improve to 15-2 overall and 6-0 in the 1A-2.
Norfork did not fare any better on the boys’ side. The Panthers lost to Viola by a final of 69-31.
Viola will travel to Shirley on Friday.

Salem’s girls came up short on their home floor. The Lady Greyhounds ended up falling to Tuckerman 55-51.

The Calico Rock girls were able to pick up a win on the road. The Lady Pirates edged out Shirley 51-50.

Izard County’s boys went to Fox and defeated Rural Special 48-23. Landon McBride paced the Cougars with 20 points, and Zach Simmons added 11. Izard County is now 10-2 on the season and 5-0 in the 1A-2.

The Mammoth Spring High School teams were swept at home by Greene County Tech.
The Bears lost the boys’ game 54-41 to the Golden Eagles. Mammoth Spring was led by Aidan Burns with 24 points. The Bears will head to Maynard on Friday.
The night wasn’t any better for Mammoth Spring’s girls, as they fell to Tech 64-48. Sara Crowe was the Lady Bears’ leading scorer with 16 points, Shelby VanGinhoven chipped in 14 points, and Megyn Upton grabbed 12 rebounds. Mammoth Spring will go to Gainesville on Thursday.

The Bergman boys had a successful road trip, as they topped Elkins 74-68. Elijah Royce led the Panthers with 29 points, Asher Fultz scored 16, Anthony Hodge had 11, and Walker Patton added 10 points. Bergman is now 12-3 on the season and 1-0 in the 3A-1.
