Instead of using his usual sleigh to get about, Santa Claus is set to travel throughout Boone County this week using a different means of transportation — a sheriff’s office pickup truck.
Boone County Sheriff Tim Roberson says in a Facebook post his office has received a request from the North Pole. Santa Claus asked Sheriff Roberson and his team to escort him to the rural communities in Boone County to see the children.
Sheriff Roberson says Santa understands many children have not been able to see the jolly old elf due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
The routes of the escorts and the time Santa will be in nine Boone County communities are available on Sheriff Roberson’s Facebook page.
The times are subject to change, and if so, will be updated on the sheriff’s Facebook page.
