The rally came up short for the Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team on Tuesday. The Lady Bombers ended up getting edged out by Jonesboro 41-38.

The Lady Hurricane jumped out early with an 11-1 lead, but Mountain Home came back with the margin at four at halftime. The Lady Bombers started the second half by making it a one-point game on a three-pointer by Annie Norcross, but Jonesboro responded by scoring the next nine to go back up double digits. Mountain Home made another comeback eventually cutting the deficit back to three.

The Lady Hurricane’s Ereauna Hardaway was fouled on their last offensive possession with 2.9 seconds left. She missed the front end of a one-and-one, and Norcross got the rebound and threw the ball to Kate Gilbert near the half court line. Gilbert tried one last heave to tie the game, but her shot was blocked, and the clock soon hit zero.

Gilbert led the Lady Bombers with 12 points, and Addison Yates scored 11. No one was in double figures for Jonesboro.

Mountain Home falls to 1-8 on the season. The Lady Hurricane improves to 7-2.

Both Mountain Home teams are set to be back at the Hangar next Tuesday, as they meet West Memphis.
