The Mountain Home High School basketball teams ended up with mixed results hosting Siloam Springs on Friday.
The Bomber boys took the court for the first time in two weeks and defeated the Panthers 60-48. The game had three ties and two lead changes early on. Mountain Home was up five at the break. They kept the advantage from then on, although they’re lead wasn’t safe until the last couple of minutes. The Bombers built a double-digit lead and went on to win by a dozen.
Luke Proctor led Mountain Home with 19 points, Jake McGehee scored 17, and Wyatt Gilbert added 13. For Siloam Springs, Josh Stewart had 16 points, and Nathan Vachon chipped in 11.
The Bombers improve to 6-9 on the season and 2-4 in the 5A-West. The Panthers fall to 10-12 and 4-6.
The girls’ contest had a different result, as Mountain Home was edged out by Siloam Springs 40-37. The game was close from start to end with six ties and seven lead changes. The Lady Bombers were up four at the end of the third quarter, but they were only able to get one field goal in the final period, allowing the Lady Panthers to go back on top. Siloam Springs was up one when Mimo Jacklik went to the free throw line. She hit one of two, and Mountain Home had a chance to tie or take the lead on the next possession. However, Jacklik came up with a steal in the backcourt and was fouled again. She again hit one of two free throws. The Lady Bombers went to the other end and called timeout with 2.7 seconds left. Mountain Home had one last chance to tie the game up out of the timeout, but Kate Gilbert’s three-point attempt in the corner to beat the buzzer missed the mark.
The Lady Bombers were led by Addison Yates with 12 points. Jacklik had 11 points for the Lady Panthers, and Brooke Ross provided 10.
Mountain Home drops to 2-18 on the year and 1-8 in the league. Siloam Springs is now 14-6 and 6-4.
