Three men have been arrested in Carroll County in connection with the 2018 murder of 37-year-old Christopher Alvard following what authorities termed an “exhaustive three-year investigation.”
Arkansas State Police reports the three are 35-year-old Jason Helms of Holiday Island and 41-year-old Josh Anderson and 32-year-old Charles Hanna both of Berryville.
Two of the suspects were taken into custody Monday by special agents with the ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division. A third suspect, already incarcerated, was served an arrest warrant by the agents. Anderson and Hanna were booked into the Carroll County Detention Center, where Helm is already being held.
Alvard and his dog were stabbed to death Feb. 8, 2018 in the victim’s home west of Eureka Springs.
Carroll County Sheriff Jim Ross said in a social media posting, “The Carroll County Sheriff Office and Arkansas State Police are extremely pleased to finally bring this case to court and ultimately provide closure to the family.”
The three men are facing capital murder and cruelty to animals charges.
