An unidentified male has been hospitalized in serious condition after an overnight shooting in West Plains.
According to a news release from the West Plains Police Department (WPPD), the shooting occurred at a home in the 500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. Authorities received a call for an attempted burglary at the location shortly after 1 Monday morning and on arrival, learned the homeowner had shot the man on the front porch of the residence.The man was located in the area of Minnesota and Second Street, where he was transported by ambulance to the Air Evac base and air lifted to a Springfield hospital.
WPPD says at this time, the names of those involved in the shooting are not being released, as the investigation is active and ongoing, and further details may be released when the time is appropriate.
Authorities add the shooting was an isolated incident, and there is “no perceived danger to the community at this time.”
