The Arkansas Department of Health (AHD) issued a precautionary boil water order Tuesday morning for the Deer Water Association in Newton County. The order is the result of a water line break due to construction. The impacted area is for those customers along Arkansas Highway 327 from Alum Cove to the end of the system. On Monday, the ADH lifted the precautionary boil order for the Fifty Six Waterworks system in Stone Count. Earlier Monday, the ADH website listed a new boil order for a portion of the Pyatt Waterworks system in Marion County. The impacted area is for customers along U.S. Highway 62 to east of L.J.’s Liquor.
Boil orders remain in place for the entire Sylamore Valley Water Association in Stone County and a section of the Calico Rock Waterworks system in Izard County from Red Hill Lane to Main Street.
ADH says under the boil notices, impacted customers are advised the water may be unsafe for human consumption. Water used for drinking or food preparation should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use.
All ice cubes should be discarded. Only boiled water should be used for making ice.
The notices will be lifted by ADH when two sets of bacteriological samples indicate the water is free of bacterial contamination, and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
