Regional tournaments conclude Saturday in Arkansas

High school basketball dominates the local Saturday schedule, as regional tournaments come to an end in Arkansas.

Two local girls’ teams will square off for the championship of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Magazine. Cotter and Flippin will tip off at 4 p.m.

The Class 1A Region 2 Tournament will wrap up at Izard County High School in Brockwell. In the third-place games, Norfork and Viola get underway at 10 a.m. in the girls’ contest, and Izard County’s boys meets Ridgefield Christian at 1. In the championship games, the Rural Special girls face Greers West Side at 4, and Viola’s boys also take on West Side at 7.

The conclusion of the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament will be held at Lead Hill. In the third-place games, the host Lady Tigers play Jasper at 10, and the Ozark Mountain boys will be paired with Lead Hill at 1. Ozark Mountain’s girls face Kingston for the championship at 4.

Three local teams will compete for the titles of the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at Melbourne. The Salem girls will get started at 4 against the host Lady Bearkatz, and Melbourne’s boys will take on White County Central at 7.

The Mountain View girls will return to Manila for the championship game of the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament. The Lady Yellowjackets meet Hoxie at 4.

Three area teams will play in the finals of the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament at Bergman. The host Lady Panthers will be matched up with Valley Springs at 4, and Bergman’s boys go up against Cedarville at 7.

The Harrison girls will compete for third place in the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Ozark. The Lady Goblins face Farmington at 10.
