Nearly a year after the first coronavirus cases arrived in Arkansas, Baxter Regional Medical Center was able to announce a positive milestone in its fight against the virus. The local hospital was able to officially close its COVID-19 unit, as of Friday.
Baxter Regional had opened the unit last year after converting an existing area to exclusively serve coronavirus patients. The hospital announced its closure Sunday on all of its social media platforms, saying they “couldn’t be happier to share that our COVID unit is official CLOSED.”
