The Mountain Home City Council will meet Thursday evening at 6 at City Hall.
The Coucil will discuss selling a piece of proprty donated to the fire department in 2020. The city recently accepted sealed bids for the property, which is located off Buzzard Roost Road east of Mountain Home and is a 40-acre tract which borders U.S. Army Corps of Engineers land surrounding Lake Norfork, along with other privately owned lands.
The land is not currently accessible by any public roadway, except for a “farm road” off of Christensen Road, east of the city. The land is exceptionally steep and and is basically a ravine and two hillsides, Mayor Hillrey Adams said. The property has no easements and Adams described the property as being “landlocked.”
The Council will also have a second reading of a proposed ordinance that would streamline and update regulations for commercial development.
Adams told the council at its April 1 meeting that the plan – designed by the city engineer, street department director and building inspector – was developed in response to inquiries from potential commercial developers, which exposed some gaps in the current development process.
The ordinance would establish regulations pertaining to flooding and drainage control, as well as parking lot and landscaping regulations. Currently, there are very few regulations concerning landscaping, which could lead to the construction of a building that is not aesthetically pleasing.
Also on the Council’s agenda is rezoning a piece of property from Residential R-1 to Residential R-2. The property to potentially be rezoned is located at 308 and 312 E. 10th Street and 1017 South Street.
The R-1 zoning designation is used for single-family homes, while the R-2 designation can denote a multi-family residence like a duplex or town home.
Council members will also consider an ordinance accepting the final plat of Glenbriar Commons Phase 1, lots 92 through 94, lots 104 through 106, and lots 113 through 115.
Mountain Home City Hall is located at 720 S. Hickory Street.
