The City of Summit has reached a police protection agreement with Yellville and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The agreement will allow Marion County deputies, which already provide patrols and law enforcement services to neighboring Yellville, to do the same in Summit. Prior to the agreement, deputies could respond to emergency calls in Summit, but did not have the authority to enforce any city ordinances.
The agreement, which had already been approved by the Summit City Council, went into effect after being approved by the Marion County Quorum Court on Tuesday, April 13.
