Mountain Home Police officer Chester “Bubba” Jones has been named the department’s new assistant chief, the City of Mountain Home announced Tuesday afternoon. He will succeed former assistant chief Eddie Griffin, who was named chief of police on April 7.
Jones has been with the Mountain Home Police Department for 23 years.
Griffin tells KTLO News what made Jones an ideal fit for the assistant chief’s position:

Jones first served in the department’s patrol division before becoming a school resource officer at the Mountain Home High School, a position he has held for more than 20 years.
Jones also held other responsibilities with the department, Griffin notes.

Jones’ promotion means the city will also be naming a new SRO in the near future, Griffin says.

Jones graduated from Northeast Louisiana University (now known as the University of Louisiana Monroe)with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and is a Certified Professional Instructor by the Arkansas Commission of Law Enforcement Standards. His previous experience also includes two years with the State of Louisiana Probation/Parole Department and two years with the 14th Judicial District Juvenile Services office.
