Campgrounds were evacuated and authorities searched for any potential stranded vacationers as flooding swamped the Spring River in Hardy from torrential rainfall recorded Wednesday through Thursday mornings.
KAIT TV in Jonesboro reports an RV was washed away at the Hardy City RV Park Campground, with high water also reported at River Bend and Loberg parks.
Officers from the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission used kayaks and boats to check for stranded motorists or homeowners in the Hardy area, after calls began coming in reporting the flooding Thursday morning around 5 a.m.
KAIT also reports farmers in the area were moving cattle and equipment to higher ground. Highways 175 near Cherokee Village and Highway 342 in Hardy were closed due to high water.
