The Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce has asked the question, “Who is Mountain Home?” An out-of-state firm has stepped in to help them find out.
After taking over the position earlier this year, Chamber President and CEO Dani Pugsley says a community wide re-brand is in order for the Twin Lakes Area.

Magnetic Creative of Temecula, California, will work with the Chamber to develop strategies to allow the community to better market itself.
Two of the most common terms used in the past to describe Mountain Home have been “retirement community” and “outdoor mecca”, but Pugsley says those terms don’t fit all that the Twin Lakes Area has to offer.

While officials await complete data from the 2020 Census, 2019 estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show Baxter County with approximately 40,000 residents, with 12,800 classified as 65 and older. Baxter County has approximately 7,200 children ages 17 and under, leaving about 21,100 residents as working adults.
With a recent influx of new residents expected due to the increase of real estate sales in the county from those moving to area, economic development is a key focus of the Chamber as well. Pugsley says the area has more than just entry level jobs and that many of those moving, are bring bringing their jobs with them, thanks to working remotely.

The Chamber is also working with the state to make sure area jobs are known through Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson’s Ready for Life initiative, which focuses on “those who want to improve their skills or change careers, as well as gather career and employment data from business and industry,” according to the governor’s announcement of the program in January. Pugsley describes the initiative.

Using Ready for Life will allow the Twin Lakes Area reach a whole new demographic of potential workers, Pugsley adds.

Pugsley says the branding campaign doesn’t leave retirees or tourists behind, it simply seeks to present the broad picture of Mountain Home as a having something for everyone.
