A Marshall man has been arrested after fleeing from police officers.

On the evening of Sunday, while on patrol, Searcy County Deputies assisted the Marshall Police with a complaint call concerning a 4-wheeler driving down Spring Street.

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, deputies went down Highway 27 South in case the 4-wheeler traveled in that direction and found the 4-wheeler in a ditch. When officers began to step out of their vehicles, the 4-wheeler, driven by 27-year-old Derek Still of Marshall, left the ditch at a high rate of speed traveling towards Marshall. Officers noted that Stills was driving erratically at speeds of 50-60 mph.

A news release from the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office reports that a deputy attempted to block the highway in an attempt to stop Still, who reportedly avoided the blockade and continued to flee. When deputies caught up with Still and attempted to block him, Still ran off in a ditch, came back up and nearly struck a patrol unit and continued to flee law enforcement officials. Still crashed the 4-wheeler near Marshall and reportedly began to flee on foot. During the foot chase, Still allegedly removed a pouch he had clipped to his belt and tossed it away.

During the pursuit, Still was caught and placed under arrest. While emptying his pockets, a syringe with a clear substance was found. Officers also found the pouch, which contained a crystal-like substance and a digital scale.

Still was transported to the Searcy County Detention Center and while in the booking area, officials found a vape smoking device on Still.

Still, who is on probation with Arkansas Community Corrections, has multiple warrants out for his arrest in Searcy County. He was charged with felony fleeing, misdemeanor reckless driving, unlawful operation of public streets and highways, felony possession of meth or cocaine, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, felony tampering with physical evidence and as a habitual offender.

He is scheduled to appear in the Searcy County Circuit Court on May 25.
