The Izard County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man after deputies were called about an alleged assault of a female, the department said on social media Monday.

Deputies made contact with a woman had been taken to the Calico Rock Medical Center for treatment for several severe wounds. After speaking with the victim, deputies then made contact with 29-year-old Robert Stowers of Dolph, who was brought to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office for further questioning.

Stowers reportedly told officers he could not remember what happened between him and the female, but did remember striking her for allegedly lying to him and that she might have lost consciousness during the assault.

Stowers was charged with a Class C felony for second-degree domestic battery and aggravated assault on a family member, which is a class D felony. His bond was set at $25,000.
