Norfork resident completes Miss Agriculture USA competition

Madison Woody of Norfork participated in the national Miss Agriculture USA competition over the weekend, taking home first-place finishes in four of the contest’s seven categories.Woody, the reigning Oklahoma Miss Agriculture USA, finished first in the event’s ag wear, formal wear, impromptu question and photogenic competitions. The 20-year-old Oklahoma State University student also placed fourth in the introduction portion of the event. Other competition categories included an interview, a written essay and a prepared speech.

Miss Agriculture USA is a pageant that celebrates and promotes agriculture. The nonprofit organization is an advocacy program for women to teach and enhance the American agriculture story.

Ohio Miss Agriculture Kaelyn Kinnan was crowned Miss Agriculture USA on Saturday afternoon, with California Miss Agriculture Madeline Evans being named the runner-up. Final overall placings for other competitors were not announced.

With the national competition behind her, Woody’s reign as Oklahoma Miss Agriculture will end in December. Woody says she’s enjoyed representing the Sooner State this year.

The Miss Agriculture USA competition has 10 age categories ranging from 2- and 3-year-olds to 31-years-old and up. Woody says she plans to continue participating in the Miss Agriculture USA program, but will have to change categories next year.

A 2019 graduate of Norfork High School, Woody was an active member of FFA, showing lambs and cattle, including a Grand Champion heifer, at the Baxter County and Arkansas State fairs. She is an animal science pre-veterinary medicine major at Oklahoma State.

Madison Woody is the daughter of Derek Woody and Trisha Woody.
