For the second time in a week-and-a-half, a minor earthquake has been reported in northwest Marion County. The United States Geological Survey says the magnitude 2.2 quake was recorded four miles east of Diamond City at 7:17 Saturday evening. The location is 21.1 miles northeast of Harrison, over 24.3 miles east-southeast of Branson and 27.1 miles west-northwest of Mountain Home.

The location of Saturday’s earthquake was near where the most recent one occurred on July 8. A magnitude 2.0 quake was recorded 4.6 miles east of Diamond City that afternoon at 1:13.

Experts say normally, earthquakes below magnitude 3 are rarely felt. However, smaller quakes from magnitude 2.0 can be felt by humans if the quake is shallow (few kilometers only) and if they are very close to its epicenter and not disturbed by ambient factors such as noise, wind, vibrations of engines, traffic, etc.

Anyone who felt the quake can let the USGS know on their website.
