A Mountain Home woman has been arrested after allegedly breaking into two homes earlier this month.
Rebecca Darleen Ramey was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center Tuesday morning and faces two felony counts of residential burglary and misdemeanors of theft of property and criminal mischief.
The 35-year-old Ramey is accused of entering a residence on Ravenwood Lane in Midway around July 14 and taking two glass vases and eight wine glasses. Ramey is also accused of entering a home on Highway 178 West in Midway early Tuesday morning, cooking food at the residence and then falling asleep in a recliner in the living room.
The resident of the Ravenwood Lane Home identified Ramey as a possible suspect in the theft of the glassware, telling sheriff’s deputies that Ramey had been seen in the area recently and had allegedly been known to walk into the residence uninvited.
Deputies report they made contact with Ramey at her father’s house, where she appeared to be intoxicated. Ramey reportedly said she did not take the missing items but had purchased some glassware the previous day. Ramey produced several pieces of glassware, none of which matched the description of the missing items. Ramey reportedly told deputies that she would look for the missing glassware, and deputies asked her to bring them to the Sheriff’s Office should she locate them.
On July 20, deputies contacted Ramey by phone, where she reportedly admitted that she had the missing glassware and would bring it by the Sheriff’s Office. Ramey later visited the CID Office and dropped off a box of glassware matching the items the victim had reported missing.
On Tuesday, a resident on Highway 178 West in Midway returned home from work and reportedly found Ramey asleep in the living room. The resident reportedly yelled at Ramey and she fled the home, running west on Highway 178. The resident also discovered someone had removed food from the home’s refrigerator and cooked it in the kitchen.
The resident identified the unwanted guest as Ramey, who had been told in the past to not visit the residence.
Arkansas State Trooper Nathan Litty spotted Ramey running down Highway 178 and took her into custody on a previously issued warrant for contempt of court.
Ramey was read her Miranda rights and interviewed at the Sheriff’s Office. She reportedly admitted she had returned the missing glassware from the Ravenwood Lane residence and that she had entered the residence on Highway 178 West and cooked a meal there. Ramey reportedly told authorities she had entered the home at 2:30 a.m. because she had been fighting with her father.
Ramey is being held in the Baxter County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
