A local resident was seriously injured Friday morning in a two-vehicle accident in Southern Missouri. Thirty-nine-year-old Alexander Olson of Gainesville was transported from the scene in Webster County to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Olson was nearly 3 1/2 miles south of Marshfield when he attempted to pass a vehicle on Missouri Route A. He came upon a van traveling in the opposite direction, and the two vehicles collided head-on. Olson was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the van, 35-year-old Bradley Sturdefant of Marshfield, also suffered serious injuries, and his passenger, a four-year-old female juvenile, had minor injuries. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
Both vehicles were totaled in the 7:25 a.m. accident.
