The Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed a boil water notice issued by the Calico Rock Waterworks for the portion of the system located on Rowden and Caldwell streets and the areas to the west.
The order was issued due to a main waterline break.
ADH says under the boil notice, impacted customers are advised the water may be unsafe for human consumption. Water used for drinking or food preparation should be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use.
All ice cubes should be discarded. Only boiled water should be used for making ice.
The notice will be lifted by ADH when two sets of bacteriological samples indicate the water is free of bacterial contamination, and an adequate disinfectant level is established throughout the distribution system.
