Arkansas gubernatorial candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders made a campaign visit to Mountain Home Wednesday as part of a 15-stop tour through the state.More than 400 supporters packed into Buncle’s Brick Oven and Brews to hear the candidate speak shortly after noon. Sanders, the former White House press secretary for President Donald Trump and the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, spoke for about 22 minutes. She shared some humorous stories about her father and taking her children to work with her at the White House, before pivoting her address to talk about her campaign for governor.
After her remarks, Sanders worked her way through the restaurant, shaking hands, answering questions and posing for photos with well-wishers.
Republican Asa Hutchinson has served as governor since 2015. He is term-limited and cannot run for re-election.
Wednesday’s visit marked the second time in as many weeks that Sanders has visited Mountain Home on the campaign trail. Sanders says this was probably her fourth or fifth trip to the area in the past few months.

Sanders’ Freedom Tour launched Sunday with a boat parade on Lake Ouachita. Once things wrapped up in Mountain Home Wednesday, she traveled to Jonesboro for an evening rally at the ASU Regional Farmers Market. The tour was scheduled for stops in McGehee, El Dorado and Arkadelphia on Thursday and in Texarkana, Cabot and Searcy on Friday before concluding Saturday in Springdale.

Sanders is one of two announced Republican candidates for governor, the other being Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.
There are four announced Democratic candidates for governor — Anthony Bland, Chris Jones, James “Rus” Russell, and Supha Xayprasith-Mays — and an announced Libertarian candidate, Rickey Dale Harrington Jr.
The filing period for candidates for state and federal offices in Arkansas begins on Feb. 22, 2022, and continues through March 1, 2022. The state’s primary election will be held May 24, 2022, and the general election on Nov. 8, 2022.
