A man pled guilty to stealing a quantity of makeup from the Merle Norman Studio in Mountain Home during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.

Fifty-four-year-old Calvin Larry Summers was placed on probation for 10 years. He also paid $1,300 in restitution to the victim.

He was also ordered to complete an addiction treatment program in which he is currently enrolled.

Summers who now lists an address in Flippin was charged with felony counts of commercial burglary and theft of property.

On April 1 last year, Mountain Home police received a report of a commercial burglary at the Merle Norman business.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a surveillance camera on a nearby building captured a person on the night of the burglary, “acting in a manner consistent with someone preparing to break into a business.”

Later in the same month, police responded to a call for a welfare check call at a Mountain Home residence and one of the officers recognized Summers from the security video.

The officers also reported seeing “an unusually large amount of Merle Norman makeup” at the residence.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Summers admitted to the burglary and theft during an interview at the Mountain Home Police Department.
