Mountain Home is one of five cities in Arkansas where marchers will gather in response to Texas’ recent abortion law. The Arkansas Coalition for Reproductive Justice, the Arkansas Abortion Support Network and Planned Parenthood Great Plains are the primary co-sponsors of the “March for Reproductive Freedom” scheduled for Saturday.

The rally in Mountain Home will start at 3 p.m. at the Baxter County Courthouse. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring masks, signs, an umbrella and friends. Snacks, water, rain ponchos and first aid will be available.

According to the event organizers, the march serves to educate, empower and mobilize Arkansans to take action in the election process and connect them with advocacy organizations in their communities. Voter registrations and sign-up sheets will be available for anyone looking to volunteer.

The largest event is expected to occur at the Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock. Other rallies will be held in Fort Smith, Fayetteville and Jonesboro.
