
The Baxter County Quorum Court will consider payment of more than $450,000 for employees under the American Rescue Plan when its meets Tuesday evening.The ordinance the court will consider notes the funds are for the purpose of addressing the various adverse impacts of COVID-19 upon governmental units and society, including premium pay for essential workers.
The premium pay is for current county employees continuously employed for any of the period of Feb. 1, 2020 to Dec. 31, 2020.
If approved, each eligible employee would receive $1.50 per hour worked during the described period.
The court is looking at a 10-item agenda, including three resolutions confirming appointments and reappointments by Judge Mickey Pendergrass to three fire departments.
The quorum court will meet at 6 p.m. in the second floor courtroom of the Baxter County Courthouse.
