The deaths of two Baxter County residents are being investigated as a possible murder-suicide. The bodies of 43-year-old James Wilmans and 52-year-old Marcy Wilmans were located Monday morning at a residence on Buford Road.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says his office was notified by Baxter County 911 dispatch at 5:46 a.m. of a female claiming she had shot her husband and then herself. A nearby deputy soon arrived, entered the residence and confirmed a male and female were deceased in a bedroom from gunshot wounds. Prior to the deputy’s arrival, other relatives had reportedly located the bodies, after they forced entry into the locked bedroom.

Sheriff’s investigators and the Baxter County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene, and the bodies were positively identified as James Wilmans and Marcy Wilmans. Both are being sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock to confirm the cause and manner of death. The investigation remains open pending the autopsy results.
