The Mountain Home Bomber basketball teams went north of the border to Missouri to play the Lake Hamilton Wolves and suffered two defeats in the Branson Battle at the Border.

The Lady Bombers began the day with a 47-33 loss at the hands of Lake Hamilton in a game that was close throughout. Early on, it looked like it was going to be a good shooting night after back-to-back threes by Annie Norcross and Amelia Rucker closed out the first quarter with the score being 11-11. The second quarter saw the Lady Bombers get outscored 15-9, and Mountain Home headed to the halftime break trailing 26-20. In the third, the Lady Bombers and Lady Wolves traded baskets throughout to get to a 35-29 score at the end of the third quarter. However, to begin the fourth, the Lady Bombers were able to bring it to within a one possession game, but they got no closer as a quick 9-0 run by Lake Hamilton in the fourth ended the chances of victory for the Lady Bombers.

Lake Hamilton was led in scoring by Hayleigh Wyrick with 22 points. Mountain Home was led in scoring my Mountain Home’s lone senior, Annie Norcross, who had 10 points.

The Lady Bombers fall to 1-3 on the campaign. Lake Hamilton improves to 5-1 on the year.

Mountain Home’s boys did not fare any better, as they were bludgeoned 70-19 by Lake Hamilton. The game started off promising but went south really quickly. The Bombers started on a good note after two straight Dodge Harris threes, and the game was tied 6-6 just two minutes in. But, shortly thereafter, Lake Hamilton caught fire from the three-point line draining seven first quarter threes. The Bombers found themselves in a deep hole down 25-8 after the first stanza, and things would not get much better, as Mountain Home went to the break at halftime down 50-11. The mercy rule was invoked, and the clock did not stop in the fourth quarter.

Lake Hamilton’s Ty Robinson lead all scorers with 22 points. Mountain Home was led in scoring by Dodge Harris, who finished with nine points.

Lake Hamilton improves to 4-0, and the Bombers fall to 1-3.

Both Bomber Basketball squads will close out the Branson Battle at the Border Saturday, as they meet Branson.
