Nearly two months after Mountain Home city officials went to Jacksonville and asked for a grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, their application has been approved. Mayor Hillrey Adams has received a letter from Gov. Asa Hutchinson announcing the department’s Outdoor Recreation Grants Advisory Committee recommended the city receive $225,000 to assist in the development of an inclusive playground, seating for an existing amphitheater, barrier-free restrooms, horseshoe pits and associated barrier-free parking and access at Hickory Park.
Mayor Adams says while the city did ask for $250,000, he is excited and grateful for the amount coming in.
