A Cross County man, 18-year-old Seth Austin Mitchell, is being held in Izard County where he has been charged with five counts of rape. Rape is a Class Y felony, the most serious classification of crime in Arkansas not punishable by death.

Izard County Sheriff Jack Yancey tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news Mitchell was arrested Friday evening by authorities in Cross County.

Sheriff Yancey says the arrest follows an investigation developed over the last couple of weeks initiated when the victim’s parents contacted authorities.

The victim in the case is an 11-year-old female from Izard County.

The five felony counts stem from alleged incidents occurring during a period between September and November.

Yancey declined to provide other details in the case, noting documents have been sealed at the request of the prosecutor.

Mitchell’s bond has been set at $100,000.
