Area man 1 of 2 injured in 1-vehicle accident

An area man was one of two injured in a one-vehicle accident on Christmas night in Howell County. Forty-one-year-old Billy Greer of Caulfield was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Greer was a passenger in an SUV driven by 19-year-old Jacob Day of Mountain View, Missouri. They were nearly 2 miles southeast of Mountain View on County Road 3100, when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.

Day suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains. He was also charged with driving while intoxicated (drugs), resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, no license plate lamp and no seat belt.

Day’s vehicle was totaled in the 10:18 p.m. accident.
