A Baxter County man wounded in an altercation at Woods Feed and Farm Supply in Jordan in mid-November has been charged with a felony count of third-degree domestic battery.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 43-year-old Jeremy Allen Woods of Jordan sustained a gunshot wound to his right shoulder area in an altercation with the business owner, Danny Woods, who is also his uncle. In an earlier report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, it was noted Jeremy Woods was transported by air ambulance to a Springfield hospital for treatment of his injury.

Online jail records indicate Jeremy Woods was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on Dec. 16 and charged with violating a no-contact order and probation violation.

The affidavit notes there are previous reports on file of Jeremy Woods assaulting Danny Woods. The investigating officer notes Jeremy Woods has a previous conviction for third-degree domestic battery from Baxter County District Court. Court records indicate the conviction on the charge occurred in August 2020, stemming from an incident occurring on Christmas Day in 2019.

In the most recent incident at the Jordan business, deputies responded to the store, after Danny Woods claimed to have shot his nephew in self-defense. A Norfork officer had already arrived on the scene and had Danny Woods sitting in the back seat of his patrol unit. Jeremy Woods was observed lying on his back in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.

Danny Woods told a deputy his nephew came into the business and said, “Now you have a reason to have me arrested.” The sheriff’s office report then referenced the no-contact order in effect due to previous incidents between the two men.

Danny Woods went on to claim his nephew sat in the floor for a few minutes, stood up and said he had time before the police arrived to attack him. Jeremy Woods allegedly went behind the counter and carried out his threat, with his uncle reportedly having a large bruise and knot on his forehead.

A store employee told authorities he was working behind the building when he heard the owner yell at him on the radio to immediately go inside. The employee claims to have observed Danny Woods fighting with another male, later identified as Jeremy Woods, behind the gun counter.

Jeremy Woods reportedly reached for a gun during the struggle. The fight reportedly continued into the parking lot where Jeremy Woods was shot. Investigator Brad Hurst tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot news Jeremy Woods was shot with gun his uncle had on his person.

Jeremy Woods is being held on a bond of $50,500.
