An Izard County woman is facing two felony charges, after she reportedly continued to make death threats towards her boyfriend, family members and the general public while en route to jail.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 28-year-old Ashley Nicole Lewis has been charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and possession of firearms by certain persons, meaning she is a convicted felon.

Law enforcement responded to a call for service from Lewis at a convenience store in Mount Pleasant on Dec. 20.

Lewis reportedly told an officer she and her boyfriend had gotten into a verbal altercation in Independence County prior to their arrival in Mount Pleasant. The woman allegedly said she had made threats of violence to her boyfriend before they parted ways.

Officers located an unoccupied vehicle in a driveway on Lafferty Road where the couple had reportedly separated. A large hunting knife was found on the ground in close proximity to the vehicle.

An investigator traveled to the convenience store to interview Lewis, who is reported to have spontaneously uttered threats of death or serious injury to her boyfriend. After being advised of her Miranda rights, the woman allegedly continued making statements of her intent to stab and kill her boyfriend.

When asked to stand, Lewis said if she was going to jail, she was definitely going to kill her boyfriend, as soon as she was released on bond. While en route to jail, she continued with the threats.

When Lewis’ car was inventoried prior to impoundment, a .22 caliber rifle with a scope was found in the back floorboard under pieces of clothing.

Lewis has been convicted of at least one felony charge in Arkansas, prohibiting her from possessing firearms.

Her bond was set at $10,000.
