A boil water order has been issued in the city of Cotter. According to a post on the Cotter City Hall Facebook page, a water main break has been reported at the intersection with U.S. Highway 62/412 and Harding Boulevard (U.S. Highway 62B).

Crews from the Cotter Water Department are reportedly on the scene working to correct the issue. Most residing in Rainbow Heights and near the Cotter School District campus have no or low water pressure. Customers are asked to conserve water.

The Baxter County Office of Emergency Management is assisting Cotter City Hall in making sure each resident has the appropriate amount of water needed. The OEM Office has a supply of bottled water that is available to any citizen in need. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Cotter City Hall or the Baxter County Office of Emergency Management 870-424-6119 ext. 3.

The boil order will remain in effect until further notice. Water used for drinking or food preparation must be boiled briskly for one minute prior to use. All ice cubes should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.
