AR Dept. of Education selects 6 area schools for CTE funding

The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has announced 72 applications have been selected to receive approximately $2.5 million in Career and Technical Education (CTE) State Start-up Grants to assist with the development of new CTE programs of study. Locally, six area schools will receive funding.• Mountain Home High School Career Academies will receive $48,823 for pre-engineering studies.

• Flippin High School will receive $27,115 for digital marketing and $24,356 for medical professions.

• Yellville-Summit High School will receive $30,430 for its robotics program.

• Harrison High School will receive $24,225 for banking programs.

• The Mammoth Spring and Melbourne high schools will receive $11,453 for work-based learning programs.

The start-up grants cover 85% of the costs associated with a new program, with the school district committing to cover the remaining 15%.
