A man wanted by authorities since last July was taken into custody Thursday in Fulton County through the combined efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies.

Fulton County Chief Deputy Jake Smith says Timothy Dover Jr. is a parole absconder, who had been hiding from Sharp County authorities since July 2. He had a felony warrant and a nationwide extradition. Dover’s age and address were not available.

Smith says the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office received information Wednesday afternoon that Smith was in the Agnos area.

A deputy, along with a parole and probation officer, went to the area, and Dover was spotted walking between U.S. Highway 62 and a wooded area. When Dover spotted the deputy, he reportedly fled into the woods.

A search ensued with the aid of the Arkansas State Police (ASP), officers from Salem Police Department and the K9 unit from the North Central Unit of the Arkansas Department of Correction at Calico Rock. The search ended after several hours, but resumed Thursday morning.

A caller advised a person matching Dover’s description had been seen again in the same area.

Officers from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, ASP and parole and probation returned to the area and were joined by the DOC K9 unit and the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office helicopter.

With the assistance of area residents, Dover’s location was narrowed and the suspect was surrounded by officers from the various agencies. After a brief foot chase, Dover was apprehended in a creek bed between Old Peace Valley and Day roads.
