
Basketball makes up much of the local Monday schedule, as the postseason gets underway at the junior high level in Arkansas.
Mountain Home’s freshman boys will be at Greene County Tech in Paragould for the opener in the Northeast Arkansas District Tournament. The Junior Bombers face West Memphis East at 5.
The 2A-1 Junior District Tournament is scheduled to get underway at Eureka Springs. On the girls’ side, Yellville-Summit takes on the host Junior Lady Highlanders at 4:30, and top-seeded Cotter plays the Arkansas Arts Academy at 6:30. On the boys’ bracket, Cotter will be paired with Eureka Springs at 5:30, and top-seeded Flippin will take the court at 7:30 against the winner of the 3:30 game between Decatur and the Arkansas Arts Academy. In addition, Flippin’s senior boys will play the Arkansas Arts Academy in Eureka Springs’ auxiliary gym.
The 1A-2 Junior District Tournament will get underway. In the girls’ games, Calico Rock and Izard County get underway at 4, Timbo and Rural Special play at 5, and Norfork faces Viola at 6:30. On the boys’ side, Izard County takes on Shirley at 5:15, Viola plays Rural Special at 6:30, and Norfork will be matched up with Timbo at 7:45.
Western Grove’s girls will be in Jasper for their opener in the 1A-1 East Junior District Tournament. The Junior Lady Bears face Kingston at 6:45.
The 2A-2 Junior District Tournament will begin at Cedar Ridge High School in Newark. In boys’ action, Salem takes on Tuckerman at 5:15, and Melbourne plays Midland at 7:45. The Salem girls will go up against Midland at 6:30.
Bergman’s boys will head to Green Forest for their first game in the 3A-1 Junior District Tournament. The Junior Panthers face the host Junior Tigers at 4.
On the high school level, Bakersfield travels to Summersville, the Gainesville girls host Koshkonong, Dora’s girls make the trip to Seymour, Three of Mammoth Spring’s teams head to Jonesboro to play Ridgefield Christian, and the Mammoth Spring girls travel to Marmaduke.
