It was mixed results for the Mountain Home Christian Academy (MHCA) teams at the Heartland Christian Athletics Association 2A State Tournament in Little Rock.
The boys were 59-55 winners over Trinity Christian from Texarkana. Trenton Cox led a quartet of players in double figures with 17 points, Gideon Spray had 16, and Jordan Woods and Gabe Spray each scored 12. The Eagles will play in the semifinals Friday in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
The MHCA girls lost to Christian Ministries Academy from Hot Springs 46-31. Caroline Robinson paced the Lady Eagles with 15 points.
District tournaments continued for area teams in Arkansas Tuesday night.
At the 2A-1 District Tournament at Flippin, the Yellville-Summit girls punched their ticket to the regional tournament next week with a 43-42 win over Eureka Springs. The Lady Panthers are now 20-6 on the season.
In the other girls’ game, Life Way Christian downed Alpena 67-41.
In boys’ action, Cotter downed Decatur 46-36. Colton Jones paced the Warriors with 18 points, while Hayden Hutson scored 15.
In the other boys’ game, Yellville-Summit fell to Alpena 66-40 and is now 3-21.
The 1A-2 District Tournament is being played at Shirley. In the boys’ game, Norfork had its season ended with a 59-46 loss to Viola. Norfork’s scoring was led by Landon Jines with 16 points, and Layne Scalf added 14. The Longhorns got 21 points from Landon Luna, as they improve to 14-16.
In girls’ action, Timbo lost to Concord 53-43.
At the 2A-2 District Tournament in Salem, the Salem girls downed Sloan-Hendrix 67-35 to improve to 18-6 on the season. Chelsea Hamilton scored 22 for the Lady Greyhounds, and Marleigh Sellars had 18.
The Salem boys routed Cedar Ridge 62-37.
The 1A-1 East District Tournament is being played at the Western Grove campus of the Ozark Mountain School District. In boys’ games, Lead Hill blew out Deer 60-31 to improve to 21-16. Cody Paul led the Tigers with 20 points and 10 rebounds In the other boys’ game, Omaha blasted Kingston 61-32.
In girls’ action, Ozark Mountain downed Deer 65-38.
The Mammoth Spring boys opened the 1A-3 District Tournament at Hillcrest with a 50-31 victory over the host team. Gavin Boddie had 18 points for the Bears who improve to 18-14.
At the 3A-1 District Tournament in Lincoln, the Valley Springs boys defeated Greenland 68-47 to improve to 21-13.
The Marshall girls were eliminated from the 2A-5 District Tournament at Quitman with a 31-28 loss to Conway St. Joseph.
The Harrison boys won their opener of the 4A-1 District Tournament at Pea Ridge, whipping Prairie Grove 57-22 to move their record to 13-12.
In other action Tuesday night, the Gainesville boys lost to Hartville 45-39. The Lady Bulldogs fell to Hartville 58-10.
