2022 election filing period begins Tuesday in Arkansas

The 2022 election cycle begins in earnest Tuesday across Arkansas with the opening of the filing period for political party, nonpartisan and school board candidates. The filing period will remain open for one week, until noon on March 1.At noon Tuesday, political party candidates, including locally county-wide positions, justices of the peace, constables, state representatives and some state senators, may begin filing for office.

On Tuesday afternoon, beginning at 3, the nonpartisan filing period for prosecutors and judicial candidates opens.

Also on Tuesday, school board candidates may submit their completed petitions to their respective county clerk’s office.

The Baxter County Republican Committee (BCRC) has announced candidates will file on that party’s ticket at The Market Meeting Place and Event Center, located at 1160 U.S. Highway 62 West in Mountain Home.

The filing location will be open on the following schedule:
Tuesday — noon – 4 p.m.;
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday — 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.;
Saturday — 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.;
Monday — 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; and
March 1 — 9 a.m. – noon.

A member of the Baxter County Republican Party will be present to accept candidate filing fees and provide appropriate forms.

After filing with the Baxter County Republican Party, those candidates must provide written evidence of filing fee payment and additional paperwork with the Baxter County clerk on the first floor of the courthouse prior to noon March 1.
