Tom Canta has announced he is seeking the position as Baxter County Quorum Court justice of the peace for District 11 as a Republican.
Canta’s announcement and his filing for the seat sets up a race for the position with incumbent Ty Chapman.
Canta says he has lived in District 11 in the Buford area of Baxter County for the past 24 years. During that time, he worked as a certified law enforcement officer in the Mountain Home area.
Canta says he has dedicated his adult life to serving the communities were he lives and would consider it a privilege to serve on the quorum court.
He says if elected, he would work with all members of the court, as well as the people he would serve.
Canta says he wants to keep Baxter County the great place it is to raise a family, live and retire. He says he believes public safety is the biggest priority in Baxter County, and he would work hard to continue to keep it safe.
Canta and his wife, Cathy, have been married 32 years and have two adult daughters.
