A Baxter County man, 83-year-old Hermann J. Richter of Mountain Home, was killed in a one-vehicle accident Friday morning in Texas County, Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred 6 miles north of Houston on U.S. Highway 63.
The crash reportedly occurred when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the highway, the driver overcorrected sending his SUV down a steep embankment ejecting Richter from his vehicle.
Richter was transported to the Texas Memorial Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead less than two hours after the 9:30 a.m. crash.
This is Missouri Highway Patrol Troop G’s sixth fatality for 2022, compared to eight for the same period in 2021.
