MHJH boys win Tyson Jr. Relays Tuesday, girls 3rd

The Mountain Home Junior High track team competed at the Tyson Jr. Relays in Green Forest Tuesday. The boys’ team won the meet in 152.33 points. They edged out the Harrison Goblins who placed second with 137.50 points.

In the boys’ pole vault, the Junior Bombers went one, two, three with ninth grader Adam Jones leading the way. Jones cleared a new personal best of 10-06.00. Zachary Daugherty came in second with 9-06.00. Kaleb Daniel completed the podium for the Junior Bombers by clearing 8 feet.

Eighth grader Barrett Miller won the boys 100m in 12.12 seconds. Teammate Jacob Chenoweth placed third in a time of 12.34 seconds Miller came back to take another win in the 200m with a personal best of 24.98, his first time dipping under 25 seconds. Chenoweth placed second in the same event running a time of 25.91.

Miller and Chenoweth were joined by Caden Del Soto and Brantlee Phillips in the 4x100m relay to take another win in a time of 48.93 seconds.

The boys 4x200m took first place with Kade West, Christian Cruse, Dayton Davis, and Zachary Daugherty anchoring. They won in a time of 1:37 minutes ahead of Yellville-Summit who ran 1:49.3 minutes.

In the distance events, Connor King placed second in the 1600m in a time of 5:23.53 minutes. Trenton Smith placed third in the 800m in 2:26.50 minutes and Garrett Barr was fourth in 2:28.82 minutes.

The Junior Bombers did well in the throwing events as well with 9th grader Eli Jones winning the discus in 133-09 and Nathan Yarborough was third with 106-10. Jones placed second in the shot put with 37-08.

The Junior Lady Bombers placed third overall with 71 points. St. Vincent De Paul Middle School placed second with 94 points, and Bentonville Lincoln Junior High won with 143 points.

9th grader Anna McCarn won the high jump clearing 4-10. McCarn was also a part of the winning 4x200m relays with teammates Sienna Reed, Lorelai Green, and Whitten Coleman.

In the 400m, Bailey Ritenburg placed third with a time of 1:06.31 minutes. Ritenburg was also on the 4x400m relay team with Camilla Johnson, Naomi Wiggins, and Sienna Reed. They placed third in a time of 5:02.41 minutes.

In the girls’ pole vault, Oliva McCoy placed second by clearing a height of 7 feet.

The Junior Lady Bombers placed third in the 4x100m with a time of 56.72 seconds. The relay team included Whitten Coleman, Lorelai Green, Camilla Johnson, and Kendra Medley.

The Junior High track team returns to action March 29th when they travel to Berryville for Jr. Bobcat Relays.
