An area man has been given a four-year suspended sentence and five years probation, after pleading guilty to assaulting a female. Earlier this month, Brandon Adams of Bakersfield agreed to a deal with prosecutors, in which he would plead to third-degree felony domestic assault, and another assault charge, along with first-degree burglary and second-degree sodomy, would be dropped.
According to the Ozark County Times, the probable cause statement in the case indicates a female went to the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office late last year and accused Adams of choking and slapping her. The victim reportedly had visible red marks on her neck. She also claimed Adams tied her up and sexually assaulted her.
The victim stated she fell asleep the night of the incident, and Adams was on top of her when she awoke. He allegedly threatened to kill her, if she made statements to authorities. The victim reportedly was able to escape and ran to a neighbor’s residence. She contacted her mother to meet her and transport her to the sheriff’s office.
The newspaper report does not indicate when and where Adams was eventually arrested. He can be incarcerated in the Missouri Department of Corrections, if he continually violates his probation.
